Turmeric & Garlic

I LOVE Indian food and raw garlic. I love raw garlic sprinkled on salad, pasta, toast, pizza. Both turmeric and garlic have amazing health benefits centuries old, if not thousands of years!

Turmeric got its start in Southern India, and is still its largest producer.  Unlike over-the-counter drugs, turmeric has no toxic effects on the body. Curcumin’s powerful antioxidant advantages have been shown to protect healthy cells, particularly those found in the colon, from cancer-causing agents. It aids the body in destroying mutated cancer cells before they have a chance to spread to other areas. Turmeric also helps to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease. All that, and it’s tasty too! (that info. from pbs.org).   Turmeric also easily stains, and dyes clothes. The beautiful robes worn by Buddhists monks have had their robes dyed with turmeric at one time long ago.

Around cold and flu season, it’s especially important to boost your intake of garlic. Both garlic and turmeric lower blood pressure along with dozens of other medicinal benefits. Many countries think of food as medicine as well as something to eat for pleasure.

I’m no doctor. I do have a certificate in Herbal/spiritual healing. I only give you my testimony on what I have done that works (or doesn’t work). 🙂  Always see an herbal doctor or therapist before changing your diet with many spices and herbs. Just in case! Especially if you are already on blood pressure or any other meds.

OK.  Here is my testimony. I do notice a difference when I take some raw garlic and turmeric capsules. I feel lighter, can move easier; I feel more flexible too. Last year when I visited my doc for my yearly female exam, they took blood to check my cholesterol. I had been eating garlic and taking my turmeric almost daily, well, not the garlic daily, but most days.  I didn’t tell my doctor this because they never ask about herbs..just meds. I didn’t think of telling them also! SO..the girl sticks the needle in my arm..and blood just sprays ALL over the room! I swear this had NEVER happened before! Scared the poor gal to death! She said it is not on my records that I am taking blood pressure medication, so how did this happen??? I told her about the garlic and turmeric.

So we both learned a lesson that day. I had NO idea what I was taking was working so well, but it is! The doctor said to continue with whatever it is I am doing , as it is working!
